Behind the Lace Curtains-Sunday Dinner, Wasabi Smashed Potatoes

These potatoes go great with the Ginger Flank Steak from the last Sunday Dinner post and was part of Rachel Ray's segment on 30 Minute Meals.

2 1/2 to 3 lbs. Idaho potatoes, 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
Salt
1/4 to 1/2 c. cream
1 to 2 T. wasabi paste (depends on how hot you want it!)

Place potatoes in a pot and cover with water.  Bring to a boil, salt the potatoes and cook until tender, 10 to 12 minutes.  Drain potatoes and add them back to the hot pot.  Smash the potatoes with a masher to desired consistency with the cream and wasabi.  Adjust salt to taste.

I used wasabi powder as I did not have wasabi paste.  I added 1 teaspoon to start and added until the heat was just right.  Be careful with wasabi-it might not taste hot right away, but it will come back and kick you!  I also mashed my potatoes as I usually would.
